More and more, families with children are becoming poorer and poorer, increasing the number of homeless people in poverty. Children are not receiving the tools and resources necessary to reach their fullest potential in education, as well as many other aspects of life. Unfortunately, this is not the fault of the child, yet they receive the negative effects of the situation. As a future teacher, I will work with my students who may be in a tough situation such as this one. I understand that the parents will most likely not be able to work with the child at home. This may pose more difficulty, but would not be unattainable to work with. As the educator, my role would go beyond educating the children. It may be a necessity to go above and beyond to make sure these children have all that they need in order to survive and be successful throughout the school day.
ReplyDeleteIt's very sad to know that there are kids and families who are poor and who are in poverty! You cant blame the children for not knowing the material that they need to know for school because they dont have the advantage like other children to get the best education and go out and ask sources and people for help and he supplies that they need to be on top. As a teacher I would have a relationship with the child and be open and able to relate and go beyond my means as a teacher to help them. I will adress these problems by lending out some of my supplies and even going on a personal level with the family any helping out as best as I can, but at the same time educate their child and the rest of the class!
